Summer is here and it can only mean one thing- endless sun and summer dresses galore! Finally, we can wear the cute clothes that have been cooped up in our closets for two seasons! Oh, the joys of warm weather!
If you're like me as soon as the first warm day hits, you start planning which summer-appropriate outfit you'll wear first. Should it be the cute little summer dress, the sultry low cut back-teaser, or the off the shoulder shirt that shows just enough, but not too much? As the contemplation begins, you realize that there's one teeny-tiny problem...BACNE SCARS!
Lucky for you, I have the inside scoop on a few ways that you can combat bacne scars at the root and regain the confidence you need for a hot girl summer!
The Science Behind It All
Bacne is the pesky sibling of the acne we get on our faces. And while having any form of acne can be frustrating, it affects 85% of people. So, the good news is that you're not alone if you have ever dealt with it.
Acne is caused when the pores and hair follicles of your skin become blocked by sweat, oil, and hair. So pretty much anywhere that is covered by skin is fair game for an acne attack. That is where bacne comes into play.
While not everyone that experiences bacne will have scarring, at least 40% of people will experience it. The scarring that typically plagues those with bacne is categorized as Hypertrophic scars. What this means is that the scarring can be wide, raised, darkly pigmented, or indented.
Scarring is the unfortunate reminder of an undeserved breakout, but there are ways to avoid it and clear it up for good.
Below I have just the tips that you need to wave goodbye to bacne scars!
Tip #1- Stop Picking Your Bacne
Hi friend, are you a bacne picker? If so, we have the perfect solution for you! ...STOP!
If you just can't resist picking your bacne, you are most certainly not alone! Most of us can't help ourselves when it comes to picking at acne spots. But, did you know that this can have a significant effect on whether or not a scar appears? In fact, this is one of the main ways to have scarring. How does it work? I'm glad you asked.
While the skin is healing, collagen and pigment cells become their most active. So, excess pigment, otherwise known as melanin, runs to the rescue, and viola! You have discolored patches appear where the acne once was. And for those with raised scars, the overproduction of collagen is most likely the culprit.
No, thank you!
Tip #2- Apply Healing Serums
Lotion: how wonderful it is! Right after you've gotten out of the shower, there is no better feeling than applying your favorite brand. Would you like to know what the problem in this scenario is? They could be contributing to your bacne!
How does it work? Some of these products can actually harm the skin. Why? Many lotions are too thick and can contribute to clogged pores, which can aid in the reoccurrence of breakouts (and bacne scars). No one wants that!
Our solution is to go with a lightweight oil like tea tree oil, which soothes the skin, replenishes nutrients, and fades those dreaded dark marks for good.
Say arrivederci to the rest!
Tip #3- Exfoliate
If you have ever tried an exfoliant on your face, then you know just how fresh, clean, and soft your skin is afterward. Have you ever wondered what exfoliation is actually doing for your skin?
Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin from the top layers of the skin. It’s one of the easiest ways to have healthy and rejuvenated skin. And, for those of us with scars, this means that having a regular exfoliation routine will help scars fade. Awesome, right?!
But exfoliation isn't just for your face. Body exfoliants are the game changer we all so desperately need. I recommend trying out our Rejuvenating Essence Body Polish. This product is designed to remove dead skin, toxins, and bacteria from the skin while depositing healing nutrients that heal and fade all discoloration.
